Hi Shawn, the second radio has gone but I still have the Barlow Warley. I think the model is an XCR-30, Mark 2. It looks reasonable, but is not in working order. If you would like it, it is yours for free. Email me at petrabroddle@yahoo.com to arrange an appropriate meeting place !
Hi.... I have Barlow Wadley Mark II for 30 years. In 1984 I was listening from Pretoria Radio Continental for my country Argentina in SSB perfectly. I send a letter to the presenter at this time and I received a response from the presenter of the radio (Pinky... still alive!! ) telling me that it was impossible. The commercial radio was transmitting from Buenoa Aires to Cordoba (from east to west) using a directional yaqui directional antenna.... I was receiving exactly the transmission at 180 deg at the back. Year later I was working at the same building of Dr. Trevor Wadley at teh CSIR....and the technician that build the first prototype of that radio was working for me in 1992.... he mentioned that he has the prototype build on a wood plank of 500x500mm. I asked to buy it but one day he dissapear.... for ever. Jorge Rodriguez ZS6JOR Pretorria
May be everybody knows that Mark II probably was the first radio in using SSB based ob pseudo PLL... the stability of the local oscillation was a few hertz!!!!
